A mirror is one of the main elements of any interior. It not only performs a practical function, but also adds light and elegance to the space. However, in order for a mirror to always be clean and shiny, it needs to be cleaned properly.

Basic rules for proper cleaning

The easiest and safest way to clean a mirror is with a microfiber cloth soaked in warm water. If desired, you can also use a special cleaning solution, although it is important to pay attention to its composition.

Liquids containing alkali and acid damage the mirror surface and reduce its reflectivity, so their use is not recommended.

It is advisable to apply the solution to a piece of cloth, not directly onto the mirror — this way you won’t get the surface too wet and will avoid the risk of damage.

What should we avoid?

Some cleaning products contain perfumes, dyes, or soap, which often leave streaks and spots on the mirror.

Additionally, excess water or chemical solutions can easily seep through the edges of the mirror and damage its reflective layer, causing oxidation.

Alternative methods

If you don’t want to use chemical solutions, a steam cleaner is a good choice. It’s completely safe, environmentally friendly, and effectively removes dirt without the use of additional chemicals.

You can also use a natural solution to clean your mirror — a mixture of vinegar and water. This simple method will leave your mirror clean and shiny without any extra expense.

Practical advice

• Clean the mirror frequently, as the longer it is left untreated, the more difficult it will be to remove accumulated dirt.

• After cleaning, be sure to dry the mirror with a clean, dry cloth to prevent water spots and smudges.

• Avoid paper towels — they often leave small fibers on the surface.
