With thin, large-format Kerlite tiles from Italian brand Cotto d’Este, you can renovate without removing the old tiles, provided the existing covering is firmly bonded, level and properly prepared. This reduces demolition work and construction waste. The thin slab also adds less to the floor height, although door clearances and transitions to other flooring need checking beforehand.

A fibreglass mesh on the back gives the thin slab additional strength. The slab is light, making it easier to handle and install.

PROTECT® silver ions are integrated into the tile surface during firing and inhibit bacterial growth. According to the manufacturer, the technology reduces surface bacteria by up to 99.9%. It works around the clock without needing sunlight, providing additional hygiene protection between cleaning sessions.

The porcelain surface absorbs very little water or odours and resists stains, scratches and everyday wear. It withstands sudden temperature changes. The large format means fewer joints, giving the design a more continuous appearance and leaving fewer seams to clean.

You can use it to cover floors, walls and exterior façades. Resistance to frost and sunlight helps the material retain its appearance outdoors. The façade fixing system must be selected for the building and slab.

Installed on a suitable support, it can also cover furniture, kitchen worktops and vanity tops. Porcelain is suitable for direct food contact, and grease or food stains are easy to remove.

It is also compatible with underfloor heating. Porcelain conducts heat well, helping transfer warmth from the heating system into the room.
